CoCo Lee, singer-actor dead at 48

Singer CoCo Lee, 48, tragically passed away on July 5 due to suicide. She attempted self-harm Sunday, slipped into a coma, and died on Sunday. She was suffering from depression.

Death statement

Lee's family revealed she suffered from depression for years, with her condition deteriorating recently. Despite seeking professional help and hospital's best efforts, she sadly passed away.

Beginnings 

Hong Kong-born singer Lee moved to San Francisco at 9 and began her career by participating in the 12th Annual New Talent Singing Awards in 1992. Her career later expanded to Taiwan and the USA.

She released albums in English, Mandarin, and Cantonese. Some of her popular albums are 'Illuminate,' 'Promise Coco,' and 'Exposed.'

Lee was known for voicing 'Mulan's Mandarin version and for her appearances on 'Chinese Idol' and 'Dancing With the Stars China.' She collaborated with artists like Kelly Price and will.i.am.
