Jayant Yadav: News

A right-hand batsman and right-arm off-spinner, Jayant Yadav is an Indian cricketer with massive potential who was sidelined due to the increasing popularity of leg spinners. Hailing from Haryana, Yadav made his first-class debut in 2011 against Gujarat. He introduced himself with six wickets on his debut. He did not produce another impressive performance with the ball until he faced England XI when they toured India; he picked four wickets in the match. Yadav made a leap in his bowling in the 2014-15 Ranji season, where he picked 33 wickets. A bowler with an innate ability to assess the situation and bowl accordingly, Yadav was slowly attracting interest from different corners. He made his IPL debut in 2015 for Delhi Daredevils. Performances in the domestic circuit and the IPL paved his way to the India A side. Under the tutelage of Rahul Dravid, Yadav developed as a player. He made his international debut against New Zealand in a 2016 ODI. It was in Tests that Yadav made his mark, though, in the 2016 Test series against England with both bat and ball. In that series, his century was the first time an Indian scored a hundred at number nine.
