Twitter's CEO Linda Yaccarino supports the recent move to limit the number of tweets users can read each day, calling it a "meaningful" step.

Yaccarino said "big moves" have to be made to strengthen a platform like Twitter. The platform's decision to implement rate limits has invited a lot of criticism. 

Ensuring authenticity

Twitter limited usage to detect and eliminate harmful bots. Per the company, the decision was necessary to ensure Twitter's authenticity. 

No notice

An advance notice of the decision could have spooked bad actors and allowed them to alter their behavior to evade detection, Twitter said. 

Minimal impact

Twitter said the restrictions affect only a small percentage of users and have minimal impact on advertising.
